Default Window Tinting in Pennsylvania?

I live in Downingtown Pennsylvania and want to tint my windows. I want to get my windows basically as dark as possible, does anyone have any info on rules and regs? Run into any cop trouble? Etc? Thanks.

I believe the mandate has changed, any film on the front two windows is not street legal. I believe you can go as dark as you like on the rear 3, as long as it is still transparent. I know you can pass inspection with window tint all the way around. It is legal to pass inspection, just not street legal. I had this problem with my old accord, I had all the windows tinted, and had problems finding someone to pass it, then a couple years later Scott Honda out of West Chester told me that they could now pass my car but they let me know it was not street legal.

I then got pulled over and the cop made me put my window half way up and put a little box meter over my window and it gave him a digital reading? I got fined and told he didn't want to see me around again with the tint. Needless to say, I left the tint on

I dont get it. There's millions of cars out there with tinted windows. Some cases tinted windows can be a good thing. But because of a few penises out there we all gotta suffer. Grrrrr. Im getting all of my windows tinted whether they like it or not. I drive by cops in my friends car and he never gets pulled over and his tints are normal dark. Not the so dark where u cant see anybody. Its the coooool dark.

Ok...so on with my story...I am ALWAYS getting pulled over...Nothing recently because I drive with my windows down. The cop put the meter on my window as well and measured that only 20% of light was shining through my windows...Don't know how this happened when I wanted the 40% tint...but anyways Colbert has been getting crap from State Police left and right. If you get the tint done from Colberts, they will give you a reciept without their name or logo on it because in case you get caught, you don;t have any proof they did it. Also, because they have been getting cited the prices to get Tint done are ridiculous...

My understanding is that tint is legal for businesses to put on, and legal to pass inspection, but not street legal. I believe the only way this company can get into true legal trouble is if they tell their customers that it is legal and/or that they will not be pulled over for having it.
