Default Help with shift knob/boot install

ok ok ok, i feel like an idiot for not being able to figure this out, but here goes. I have one of those chrome LED shift knobs, and the stock boot. I've got the knob on fine, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to securely attach the boot to the knob. There's a collar that screws off the bottom of the knob, but that's it. Help???

the stock knob has a pair of tab things that the boot clips onto. aftermarket knobs don't have those tabs, so you'll have to get it to stay up a different way.

Take the boot off, and get a few rubber bands and wrap around the shift lever a bunch of times right below where the top of the boot is. then put the boot back on and the rubber bands whille keep it up.

What I did on my Civic, was I put a few large washers on the shifter to keep the shift boot from sliding down the shifter exposing the shifter, now the washers hold the shift boot up to my CF shift knob! Works perfectly

ok, so on the stock shift knob, there's that chrome-looking collar that clips into the actual knob. Is that where the boot attaches? When I was changing the knob, the boot just came off, I wasn't sure how, so I'm not sure exactly how to put it back on (If I decide to stick with stock). Can anyone walk me through it? Pics?

get a shift boot from a civic or integra, take out the black plastic ring, put it on your shiftboot, use rubber bands, voila.
