Default Aftermarket rims....decisions decisions....

Hey guys,
Ok, so I'm lookin into putting aftermarked wheels on my Lude. I got a 99' Black SH, so it already comes with the upgraded/optional wheels that the SH models come with, but it's still not aftermarket. I'm lookin for some nice looking wheels, but not all full of chrome (if chrome at all), and something that's gonna be lightweight to take some lbs. off the car. Any suggestions? What have you guys used?
Thanks

well I drive a civic. but honestly i'd rock those SH wheels if it was me. you could drop the car, and put better rubber on em, and the look would be sweet. Modest, but sweet.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. The SH wheels do look pretty aftermarket, I just don't know if they're heavy/good "racing" wheels or anything. Anyone else wanna put their 2 cents in?

Go Gunmetal, specially since your car is black, you can't go wrong!

The SH's wheels are 19.7 lbs. If you're wanting to go 17s, you can find some that weigh less than that. Without knowing what kind of wheels you're looking for, post or describe what style of wheels you're into.

I like the SH wheels myself, but if you want aftermarket, get Volks or Racing Harts, those are real nice, ADRs are cool too, a little bit cheaper as well

ah, good, someone's throwin out brand names.... I was wonderin what people thought about different brands.
About what kind of wheels I'm into, I like the SH "style" of wheels (Pretty much "spoke-based"). No busy patterns that fill up the whole wheel, no odd finishes (White, black, CF, ect...) I don't mind chrome so much, but I'd also like to lighten the car some, so that's out.
Size wise, I'd like to go 1-2 inches bigger, and on the budget end, just nothing TOO crazy.
With that info, does anyone have any suggestions? (99 NightHawk Black SH)

Also, here's a site that will allow you to actually SEE what different wheels will look like on your car....

You can also check Discount Tire (www.discounttiredirect.com), and like TireRack, they too have a site where you can put the wheels on your car. I'm assuming if you're wanting SH-style wheels, they're also 5-spoke only?

In TireRack's site, I like the SSR GT1's lines...pretty clean, and fairly light...

or the GT2, in gold...

In Discount Tire, there's the 5Zigen Typhoon...

TSW Sting

or Apex...

That'll get ya started. Besides SSR and 5Zigen that I mentioned above, you should look into Wedsport, another Japanese brand. Keep in mind, regarless what wheel you go for, you need to consider that some might not fit due to their offset. The SH wheel's offset is +55mm. The possible lowest you can go without rubbing issues is +40mm, but to be safe, go +44 on up.

Also, ultimately, the decision on what wheels you want is your decision. Remember that you will be the one seeing this wheels day in and out, so choose for yourself in the end.

Hey wow thanks for sharing those pics with us. Looks nice. I'd take the SH wheels if I were you (for money's sake - because they're already awesome). Oh and on the topic of me wanting SH wheels, what are you doing with them after you get aftermarket ones? I suppose you would keep them? Dangit.
