Question about RSX wheels on a prelude
My stock wheels on my '97 lude are pretty beat and I was thinking of puting some stock RSX wheels that I can get. I read that the prelude wheels have an offset of 40mm, while the RSX wheels have 35mm. I read that the 5mm diff. causes a slight prob in the front with the wheel hitting the caliper, but this can be fixed with wheel spacers. Has anyone done this? Will everything else line up? Any help would be great, Thank You.

I know this post is old but I'm doing the same thing. Does anybody have any new info on this? I'm not sure if his facts were right, though.
I've got a thread going in the basement as well.

Prelude Offset for a 5th gen is +55 for stock wheels. You can go down to +42 safely BTW: the bolt pattern is 5x114.3. Spec for stock is 16x6.5. IF you are staying at stock ride height and tire size you can use Motegi MR12 with a spec of 16x7 and +42 Offset. IF you have a 4th gen someone else will have to answer.

Thanks for the info. Should I get spacers for a +40 offset (RSX wheels)? It sounds like a good idea. Let me know if you have a good source for them.
Also, would I get 5mm spacers? Would wider ones offer any benefits?

If you use spacers-you will be moving the rim out further toward the edge of the wheel arch/lip. +40 is about the practical limit on a 5th gen and is usally not recommended regardless of rim width. This is particularly true if you are lowered.

I think I'm confused. Would spacers make the RSX wheels fit, or just make the situation worse? I was under the impression that 5mm spaces would bring the +40's to a +45 measurement. But it might in fact do the opposite.
Dang.
EDIT: Yes, it seems I was under the wrong impression.
So spacers would in no way help this situation?

Think about it-spacers between wheel and hub actually LOWER the Offset. Do a search for this topic-there is a lot written. Meanwhile, the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in relation to the centerline of the rim width. Onme would think the numbers work as you thought-but the fact is it is the opposite.
Here is some more info that will, hopefully, help:

HA! I've gone and found somebody selling these near my area!
2003 Honda Accord steel wheels: 16x6.5. Offset is 55mm
Whoo! Perfect fit. They'll be a little heavy, but wooooooooo!
mtbprelude, do you autoX with steelies? I don't think it'll hold me back too bad. Thanks for those links, too.
