Default What's a B21A1??

I've got an opportunity to get a B21A1. Somebody had in there Integra and swapped in something else. I think the engine is still good but thought I would be getting a B18A not a B21. What's this out of? I'm assuming an older prelude as they also had a B20. Is it worth a damn? If it was a B18 I was gonna put it in my buddies Del Sol to replace the worn out D16 that's in it. The B20's had 140HP so how much was the B21 rated at? Redline? Or say screw it clean it up and sell it on ebay or junk it?

The B21A1 is a 2.1 liter (2056cc), 16-valve DOHC engine. It came in the 1990 and 1991 prelude SI's. It makes 140 hp at 5800 and 135 ft.lbs at 5000. 9.4:1 cr, redline - 6500. It was a step up from the B20 motors, which make slightly less power (between 100 and 135 hp) . They are great motors, my friend has one in his 91 lude. It has 185K on it and still runs brand new - burns less than a quart between oil changes. If you can get a good deal on it go for it, it will be a huge step up from a d16.

better than a single cam...but thats about it. it has the longest stroke for a b-series which is why it has a slightly larger displacement than the B20B/Z even though it has a smaller 83mm bore compared to the 84mm bore on the other B20B/Z.

Those are the bastard children of all B series engines. They bear little resemblance to the other Bs, and to my knowledge parts cannot be mixed and matched between the b18s, the b20s, and the b21.
