Default Prelude, audio speaker sizes?

I need to replace the rear speakers in my 99 Prelude. Will any 6x9 pretty much drop in fit wise? I'm looking at Alpine 6x9s but Crutchfield says they won't fit. I dont understand why.

I want to put the stock grill back on over the speakers too btw.

Any immiedate help is welcomed as I Want to order whatever I get today off the net.

Vamgrrrl the 6x9 will fit...the stock cover wont fit... so what u have to do is... cut the trimming on the cover off... the trimming meaning when u put back on the cover...there is a trimming(i think that what it's call) that is blocking it from going into place.. so u have to cut it...its easy can be do it urself...but it might take a little while... i had a machine to cut it so it took me 2 min for each cover!!! hope this helps you

Trimming on the stock Honda cover? I guess I'll have to see this for myself.
I cant wait to get the speakers though, my trance music has just killed one of the OEM speakers.

I didn't have to trim anything on the back deck for my 6x9's. Just drop them in, the stock grill snaps right back on. Now, the front door speakers, that is a different story. The basket needs to be cut for any decent speaker to fit...had to cut for my Infiniti Kappa's

You can fit any 6x9 in the rear that you'd like...... trust me. My Boston Accoustics use huge magnets wrapped with a rubber protector, and they are three ways. The mid and tweet are in the center and extend out about half an inch above the frame of the 6x9 and they still fit with the factory grille. The front door 6" is a different story, and you will have to cut the basket for anything better than a K-Mart special to fit.
