Default My clutch is going.....

My clutch is going. I have a 2000 lude. I don't know what to buy for a new one. I do not auto cross or race or anythign like that. I do not drive hard day to day. I just need sumthign that will feel as good as stock and will last a while and with a decent price. Any suggestions?

Whenever you buy a new clutch, you may as well buy a new flywheel also. It'll save you money in the long run. You won't havce to pay twice for the same work. I suggest going with an ACT or Clutchmaster

since you dont drive it hard very often and do not do any kind of racing why spend the extra money on an aftermarket clutch....

buy another stock one.

I don't mean to sound rude, but did you check the clutch fluid level? I thought mine was going about 2 months ago..... then I remembered our cars have hydraulic clutches and checked the fluid level...... sure enough, it was just a little low (still a little in the reservoir), but enough to seem like it was slipping too early. I filled it up, and the clutch feels and performs like new. You may want to check that (if you haven't).

BTW, I have 96k on the odometer and my clutch is still good. How many miles do you have?

I dont think it is my clutch the thing is every tiem I shift into first gear or any gear from nuetral that is it makes a loud solid klunch noise that shakes the front of the car. It is getting worse, the klunching is now followed by you guessed it more klunching noises. My car is at 66666 miles.

Right next to the master brake cylinder. It's the little cap.

Well, the first thing I'd do is change the fluid..... its just standard transmission fluid, but it might help (couldn't hurt, its cheap). But unfortunately it sounds like you have a bigger problem. Clunking may be a gear worn or a tooth having broke off a gear. But at 66k, even if you abuse the thing, it should still be o.k. Well, unless someone really tried to be a gear jammer and pretend they were driving a Kenworth without syncromesh.
