Default Gauge Install - How to remove needle

Is there a way to remove the needle to install the gauge? I was not able to put the new gauge over because the needle was in the way. I was thinking of cutting the gauge, but that would mess up the light in the gauge.

Would you please offer any suggestion?

Thank you for you help.

whatever you do DO NOT remove the needles......

i took the needles off mine when putting the glow guages in and when putting the needles back on you have to be extremely careful or you risk putting the pin in to far and destroying the mechanism like i did.....it was hell finding a new cluster for a decent price for me.

If I make a small cut on the white face of the gauge. Will the lighting still work? That's the only alternative I can think of

i dont think cutting is a good idea......most of the indiglo kits should be able to slide on over the needles.....

just be careful man

I put indiglos on my 4th gen... they slide over with a bit of trouble. Just take your time and be really careful. Put the needles at about 3000 rpm and 30 mph. You WILL have to put pressure on the needles and pins that hold the gauge face on, but if you don't put to much on, it should work fine. :bigok:

Messing with gauges is tedious to say the least. I would never use indiglo anyway. One of the reasons a Prelude is unique is the warm orange and red glow of the dash with the lamps on. Only BMW has better looking gauge illumination, IMO.
