Default How to change 4g knob and boot?

So I have been thinking hard to buy a new (mt) shift knob and leather boot. The stock knob is very slippery I think.

Could you guys give me some ideas how to replace the old shift knob and the boot as well? I got my eyes on a momo knob and leather boot.

Thanks!

u should get the 5th gen. SH shift knob. black leather knob with black leather boot. that will look sweet... its going to look high...but u might want to get a short shifter.

It's all good, but how do I remove the old knob and boot? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

well u just push down the boot and its disconnect from the knob.. than u turn shift knob clockwise... to take out the boot u have to go in and remove ur panel, than u can un-screw them.

Hey vtec thanks a lot! I could remove the knob now, but like you said I'll have to remove the panel to replace the boot. Thanks again. Hope it's not too tricky.

Ill post pictures later since I have my entire car stripped right now.

But squeeze the front and back of the shifterboot at the bottom of the ball, and pull down. There are clips there that connect the two. It will come down, it is sometimes difficult to break loose though.

Unscrew the shift knob and replace.

Ill post pics later.
