Default HID conversion on 4th gen

What is the best retro/convert to get for the 4th gen? I read that the 02 Maxima plugs straight in, no mods. What about kits? And, what about one piece headlights? Also, what would the cost be of any kit/retro?

Yea my Maxima mod... there is a slight mod, you just need a rubber gasket of somekind. I used a strobe light gasket that are used in police strobes. Its only to get a snug fit and keep out any water in the housing. No other mods are need to the housing, no cutting or anything, just gasket and stuff in. Just make sure you pull up to a closed garage and align them so they arent shining out into other drivers. The Maxima HID's are great, i will reccomend to anyone to get them. Check mine out....

Awesome! :bigok:
Thanks for the info. BTW, how much did they cost?
What about fitting projectors into a 4th gen? Is it worth time and money, or should I just stick with what I've got?

Projectors are a big negative... just cuz i hate the looks of them. If i were to get a new headlamp assembly i would deff go with the JDM headlamps. And the cost... well for me i was lucky, my friend got into an accident and he salvaged the bulbs/transfomers for me. I paid $150 for everything. It was a steal i know. But they are expensive like $600 for a kit. But if you can find a friend that will sell you his/her HID's thats always a good idea. (BTW HID's are covered by your insurance)

Great info. Thanks for your advice and opinion. ONE last ? though; will the HIDs work in a black housing, or does it have to be chrome?

Sure they will work in any color housing. The chrome acts more like a reflector and makes it WICKED bright. The JDM One Piecers for example with the black housing will project them more.

projectors are definetly worth it. not the ricer headlights by APC or whatever, but retrofitting projectors from other cars (which is what I interpretted your question to mean) I would be interested in seeing some pictures of your beam patter pelka. it looks pretty blinding. with projectors from another car you will HID as it was designed. just sticking it in reflector housings will cause you to blind people, and you won't have as much useable light. thats the reason they are banned now.

Well i didnt just stick them in a chrome housing. They are pointed on the road. Dunno if you have seen mine in person but they are perfectly aligned. So untill you see them in person. I suggest not saying they blind people, never have had a complaint. Drove by millions of police, and civilans and not a complaint or a squint of the eye. They are properly installed...
