Default Power antenna becoming retarded?

Ok so i went to start my car today for a cruise downtown... as i heard the antenna come up i heard thump thump thump thump as it reached the top so i was like ok what the ****... so i shut it off and turned it back on so the antenna would come back up it went up half way... then again off on, came up quarter's way up... then when i shut it off it stays about a third up... is my motor going? Is there something blocking it? I never had this problem before... could weather be a factor it was 30 out when i did it. Any help would be cool...

a lot of honda-acura's have the 'ol power antenna dillema...3G accords especially, my old 2g teg, my bro's 92 vigor...Definitely sounds like a blown power antenna motor. You can get it fixed anywhere from $50-150 depending where you go and how hard you look...hope this was helpful.

Go to Best Buy and purchase a generic power antenna for 60.00. Installation is a snap, it will last forever, and the motor on it has enough torque to blast through mud, ice, and dirt. Much more torque than the stock Honda. Also, the antenna will raise taller and go up and down faster. I actually put one on my old Chevy Beretta, and it was great.

i bought a new shaft for mine when it started to **** up cost me $30 bux on ebay. worked great for almost 2 years now, but it started doing the same thing again since it got really cold. i figure it has something to do with the temp and weather.
ive been looking for a good lubricant to coat it with, but it has to conduct good so no luck yet.

btw that thumping is the teeth on the shaft skipping inside the motor, usually just means the antenna has to much of a bend and the cold doesnt help either. i noticed driving fast has negative effects on the front license plate and the antenna. my front plate went from being brand new to having a 30* down bend in it toward the under bumper scoop. so you can imagine the bend the antenna can get over time.

I think I'm going to skip the power antenna replacement and get a www.locustom.com antenna. It doesn't move, is more flexable and has bult in amp!!!
