my power steering pump produces a whining/groaning sound when the car is idling. when i turn the wheel, it really is loud. if i hold the wheel all the way to one side it is loud too. the belt doesnt appear to be really loose or really tight and it clears everything else so i dont think its rubbing. this sucks! its annoying and embarassing. what can i do. i dont want to hear that my ps pump is dead. waaaa

 

not to say that you didn't check but is the fluid at correct levels.
air in system can cause that type of problem
