Default looking for a decent low priced digi camera

guys i'm tired of trying to get good shots out of my parents measly 1.3 sony digital camera.. i just can't do it. none of the pics seem to come out clean and crisp enough for my liking.

so i think i'm gonna start looking for a new camera but seeing that i have a lot of expenses and i'm a poor college kid, i'm only looking to spend around $150.

would you guys like to make any suggestions on a decent camera for that price, i know its a tight budget.

thanks

Luke

actually i just found a canon powershot a310 on sale at circuit city for 134. but i don't think it has a tripod mount, in the review of the camera at best buy it said it didn't have a tripod mount. does this camera have full manual mode? it doesn't say

You'll probably have a tough time finding a digi-cam with a full manual mode and a variety of settings for $150

WCS, has a 2.0 mp camera and his shots turn out great. I just think you need to invest in learning how to use the camera too.

i'm actually pretty handy with a camera.. but cmon... a 1.3 sony with very few and limited features.. the shots i'm taking are about as good as they are gonna get and i'm not satisfied.

anyone else use canon powershots? i'm gonna go read some more reviews and specs on the camera to see what features it has but it seems like a great deal for 134 bones

Even though it's not great, you at least have a camera for now, why not save up a little more? There's a lot of very good cameras that can be had in the $250-350 range

lkailburn: megapixel is not really a measure of quality of a camera. It is a measure of size, resolution. If all you'll be doing is internet pics and 4 x 6 prints a 2.0 - 3.0 is more than sufficient. All that higher resolution means for a camera is that [if set on highest resolution] one will be able to print latger and larger paper prints [lets say 8 x 10 or for like an 8.0 mp camera, 20 x 30] and maintain complete sharpness and focus. Whereas you attempt to print a 8 x 10 from a 1.3 mp camera, it will not come out. Hope that helps you. Megapixel does matter but it is overrated. Shop for quality not megapixel.

Very true. I think for most people 2-4 mp is just fine. I have a 3.2 and I'm happy with it. I doubt I'll ever go more than 4x6 prints anyway.

right, i know that anything over about 3 megapixel is more than what i would use(because of useful image sizes). its the lack of any decent features and settings on the sony that are denying me of better shots.

so i guess i should really be asking specifically about that powershot i mentioned above. anyone else use a powershot digital camera besides wcs? just looking to see if its a decent quality camera.

thanks

I LOVE my Kodak CX6330. It's a 3.2 that has a few features (A small bit of exposure compensation, 5 different flash settings, video mode) and it takes DAMN good pics. Here's a couple.
