dude, do this. This will get you a new one for FREE.
1. Buy another PS2,
2. then open both PS2, Switch out the electronics, Not just the Plastic Housing!
3. on the back of the housing there is a serial number, and when you bought it, it was scanned and went on the reciept, so make sure you have new plastic outer housing on the electronics that doesn't work.
4. then you use the recipt from the PS2 you just bought, and return the broken PS2 and get your $200.00 + Tax Back.
I've done this b4, obviously it won't work, if your origonal PS2 is in pieces, smashed up, run over by a car..etc..
now that you know this, you can buy broken one, fix em and sell em. Thats why Non-working PS2 units sell on eBay.

You can't do that.
i tried it. there is this sticker on the seam where the PS2 is opened up (security seal sticker thingie) once you take that off it says void void void on it. And they check that when you go to return it. I thought i was slick and just ended up w/ a ps2 that i was hoping nothing broke on because i couldn't return it either.
I don't know about every store. but i used Circuit City.
my .02cents.
don't try it unless you are ready to keep the new ps2 you buy.

Dude, I had that problem too. I took my PS2 apart and cleaned the laser, the spindle (the white thing that sits on top of the center of the CD) and all of the fans and everything with q-tips and rubbing alcohol, and it's been working like a champ since. I have a V1 PS2 that I bought the DAY they came out, and it's still going strong. There's also documentation on adjusting the laser, but cleaning everything worked fine for me. I say you should try fixing it before giving up on it.
or you can try to use a hairdryer to remove that very very hard sticker. It might be possible. I used this trick to exchange a computer "peripheral" at wal-mart. It might work. Practice removing the sticker on your BROKEN ps2 first. That way u wont ruin the one u just bought in case u need to take it back.
Dont go to big electronics stores, they automatically know to check this stuff. Go wor wal-mart or target. Get a girl thats in a hurry or something, or on a saturday..heehee! I'm BAD!

Hello:
How much are you willing to sell the Playstation 2?
How about $30 USD shipped? hehe, what does it come with? remote controls? (two?) Power Cord? Video Cords?
Any pictures?

you have to do it at like Wal-mart, or some other crappy store.
I've done this scam-return-idea on both a PS1 and PS2. you just gotta know how to work the scam right.:fawk:
