2. The paint would likely come off at the mere sight of a socket.......if not, it would definitely chip off once the wheel is torqued.
I don't mean to this response to come off sounding like an ass, but painting lugs (DIY).....well, it just doesn't work very well.

How about a set of used McGard Splinedrives? Part number 65457. Includes some new valve stems, either McGard or Gorilla, I think.
