I have a Dell Pentium III Computer (I don't remember the specs right now) that you can have for $100 +shipping. Not the latest technology, but it will get you by school. If you are interested I'll go check the specs on it.

i have a compaq laptop.... its smaller & lightweight, works fine, is running XP pro. its two years old, has a 40 gig drive with 256 of ram (you can upgrade the stick of ram if you want though), and i'll let it go for $300.
it also has really good JBL speakers built into it

this is more than enough for school work.... if you want to upgrade, laptop hard drives are cheap and you can get 80 gig ones for 60 bucks.
its a compaq presario 1700...
it has Microsoft Office 2003 installed.
it has a cd-rw/dvdrom in it, VGA and s-video outputs if you want to run it with a TV, it has a 1394 port and two USBs, it also has a PCMCIA slot, a built-in 56k modem, and of course an RJ45 jack for high-speed internet.
if you do want to buy it with the intention of upgrading the hard drive, i can give you a copy of the windows XP cd and microsoft office 2k3 cd i have.
Its an intel celeron processor. i can take pics but all i have is a camera phone, and the wife has it out today shopping. when she gets home this evening i can take pics and email them to you.
