They can't arrest you for "acting suspiciously".
They had no good reason to detain him. There are rules set forth, and he was following them.
If everyone thinks it's ok that he was arrested, how about you pass a law? You can't just start detaining people because you don't like something. You have to go through the process to pass a law.
Welcome to America, looking at some of these posts, it seems like most people would like our governmet to be able to do whatever they want with no process.
That's pretty communest if you ask me.

He clearly went there with the intention of making a scene. I do not agree with what the police did... they should have simply told him to go put it in his car or leave... but he got what he went looking for, imho.

And? People have the right to non-violent protest. There is no reason he should have had to leave.

I meant acting suspiciously(in the officer's report at least) + carrying a gun, even if he was an off-duty cop or something, I would think would be enough justify him being arrested. That is, to the court in a hypothetical lawsuit.
I'm no lawyer, and I'm not saying that reason would be enough IMO, just enough from a legal perspective. Entirely possible that I'm wrong on that.

Yes.
Are you trying to imply people that carry guns are vilolent? How many crimes are commited by ccw permit holders?
He wasn't there to go around shooting people, he was there to protest the anti gun rights liberals.
Non-violent protest.
