Default Xbox 360: Blue Dragon

I guess this one is just for me and Jae ...

Get the Barrier Magic skill set. @ L50, you get a skill called "field barrier 3". This will create a force shield around your player. You can then charge onscreen enemies and kill them instantly at the cost of 1MP.

The instant kill will yield 1 - 3 SP. This is an easy way rank up your shadows.

Field barrier 2 isn't bad, but every kill costs 10MP.

The assassin skill set has all sorts of cool stuff too.
at L35, you get "double strike" ... a 2 for 1 maul attack.

in the 20's, you receive "loot" ... attack and steal at the same time

in the 20's, you receive "treasure hunt" ... every enemy has 2 items that can be stolen. With treasure hunt, you grab the better of the 2.

Ninja Swiftness gives another shadow class an assassin's agility.

Monk is terrific also.
"Charged attack" allows the user to charge their maul.

"Battle Essence" is to be used when not a Monk. It gives another shadow set (black magic, ect) the Monk's attack power.

"Attack Amp" is a must. Charge your attack with attack amp and you start killing things in a radius. Front row, back row, left, and right of the initial target ... they all go down.

Specialist has some key stuff too.
"Accessory +3" and "Skill +8" gives players more slots.

Guardian has 1 useful bit ... "sentinel shield". Like "Battle Essence", it transfers over a Guardian's defense power to another player.

Sword Master has 2 neat tricks "Absorb HP" and "Absorb MP". Maul and receive about 10% of your inflicted damage back.

Shu is setup like this for me:
Black Magic Shadow
Skill +8 (generalist)
Accessory +3 (generalist)
Battle Essence (monk)
Charged Attack (monk)
Attack Amp (monk)
Double Strike (assassin)
Ninja Swiftness (assassin)
Loot (assassin)
Treasure Hunt (assassin)
Sentinel Shield (guardian)
Absorb HP (sword master)

I have 3 turns before anyone else because of the "Ninja Swiftness"

I can clobber groups of 7 up to 4,000 points (2,000 x 2) because of the "Battle Essence" + "Charged Attack" + "Attack Amp" + "Double Strike"

After the hit, I get back about 400 HP or MP.

There are some wicked skill combinations. With much patience, I unlocked all the skill sets by the start of Disc 2. The bad side? I'm taking out major bosses in 1 turn. The game has little or no challenge because of how strong you can make your player early in the game.

So far i'm only level 18 i believe. I just got to Tatalia i believe it is.

Fought that monster peddler that was there. So far i've been ripping through enemies. I have the Original setup with Shu being the demolisher, the other guy being a White Mage, Kluke being the Black Mage, and Marumaro being the Monk.

I didn't know this game was so vast perse. I still have to go back to the cave you take to get to your home town. I was wandering around and stumbled upon the exit and wasn't able to go and kill everything like i wanted to and usually do. But i wonder if that would be a good idea seeing how when i get LV 50 i can get that sphere thing you mentioned and start leveling up everyones classes.

Oh ... I need to get my terminology right.

For the Field Barrier 3, you need to get to L50 on the Barrier Magic class. Field Barrier 2 is very good also, but you'll need to stay close to free MP rejuvenation area.

You're awfully close to a perfect spot for this. Let me know when you're done with that area.

(i'm doing my best to not spoil things)

OH ... hop onto the XBL market place and purchase the Blue Dragon "treasures" kit. It's 200 points and includes something you really want to have, the "Nothing Glasses". Every spot with a "Nothing" in it will have a green star on it.

Trust me, you don't want to miss a "nothing". There's 1,800 of them and they do have a purpose.

I just so happen to have 200 points to spare as well.

I haven't started working on any of the other classes. I guess that should be something i should get started on ASAP as well.

I'm hoping to play till about 11:30 tonight as well.

I must say when i first turned it on i didn't think it was going to sit right with me. But i love turned based RPG's and i'm finding myself more and more immersed in this.

It's a 6 pack of items. There's some sort of accessory hanky that comes in handy too. It bumps your agility 20%.

It's rough working with so few skill slots. The Generalist will allow you to expand your slots when you rank that class up.

Magic Barrier 2/3 is REALLY needed to get things going. When you have MB rolling, your class ranks start to fly up. For all classes besides "Barrier Magic", you want to get around L35 to unlock all skills.

I uploaded a spreadsheet that documents all classes (except Generalist) and their skill sets. You'll be able to see at what ranks you get new tricks.

My OCD kicked in and I wasted a week or so just running around with a field barrier attempting to level up my guys. Again, my players are way too powerful for where they are.

Also, there are certain accessories (black belt) that double your SP gained. When you insta-kill monsters, your SP goes x2. It's so nifty.

Most people hated this game. It didn't rank over a 6.5 on IGN or GameSpot.

I really like it. The story isn't half bad, the game oozes visual style, and the accessories / class thing is very unique.

The one part that does drive me nuts is the "nothing" hunt. I've easily pushed my green button about 100,000 times against pots and walls.

Here's a good online guide ...
http://guides.gamepressure.com/bluedragon/

There's quite a few things missed there, especially the monsters you can steal valuable items from. I discovered 2, very powerful accessories found in random monsters on disc 2.

1 item (diamond necklace) can't be purchased until disc 3.
The other item (magic-life crusher bracelet) can't be purchased or sold.

Just keep me updated on where you are in the game. If you're there or passed it, I'll let ya know who to jack shit from.

So i just got through the valley of murals. Everyones original shadow class has reached level 30 and i'm about level 22-23.

Right now my guys just met up with there families and i'm in the camp. I didn't proceed from there cus i figured that would be a good starting point.

Also, i bought the marketplace thing you was mentioning. But how do i equip the glasses that let's me see nothings?

L22 is kinda high for that point in the game. :chuckles: About 5 or 6 more class levels and you'll have every skill those have to offer.

Sword Master's "Absorb MP" and "Absorb HP" are excellent. At L32, you get Magic Sword L6 ... which is really pointless right now because all L6 spells arrive in disc 6. I'd switch Shu to another class after you make it to Jibral.

Jiro's Black Magic is nearing a useful end too. "Boost Max MP +50%" is given @ L32. At L36, you get "Black Magic LV6", but again, no L6 spells until disc 3.

Kluke's White Magic could keep going. L33 contains a skill named "Resurrection". If you have this slotted and die in battle, you're instantly brought back with full stats. (I've never used it though)

Maro's Monk class tops out at 31. "Absolute Counter Attack" will have the user strike back when solo hit. It's cool.

I'd start working on Barrier Magic, and try to get it to L21 asap. "Field Barrier 2" is something you'll really need in the area that's RIGHT after where you're at.

You might want to consider getting some Generalists going too. Having 3 skill slots is crippling at times. Max out the Generalists and get up to +8 slots on top of the stock 3.

You need the Generalist skill set. As a Generalist, you're given an extra slot for accessories. The accessories aren't quite normal (bracelet, ring, necklace, ear rings) either. The upcoming accessories include shoes, hats, etc ...

Well what happens is from all my previous game playing, i tend to just kill everything i come across because i know it'll make the game a little bit more easier. I must admit, when i met up with the camp and the 2 tigers were attacking them, they were hitting me pretty hard and actually one shotted kluke. Jiro held up but kluke went down with one swipe. I raised her though and was able to 2 shot the tigers. The big iron horsey dude that came up after them was pretty easy.

I was actually thinking about switching Shu and Jiro over to Generalist, but if what you're saying is the case I might give Jiro barrier and marumaru Generalist. That will give me the ability to make Kluke support magic.

 man, you're playing ALOT. You're tearing though this.
You know what's bad. I can see my inner final fantasy coming out, I pretended to be sick on tuesday so i could go home early and play. When i was working out yesterday, all i could think about was what was the valley of murals like. Today all i'm thinking about is what's the road to jibral like.

Those tigers are nasty. Be sure to tinker with the classes after you reach Jibral. There are more tigers on the way and you need to be pretty efficient with your kills.

Jiro is a perfect candidate for Barrier. He already has the "regenerate mp" and "MP +50%" skill from the Black Magic class. This way, you can gain MP while running around burning MP. Also, your MP tank will be larger.

Again, Field Barrier 1 is useless. -30MP per barrier kill won't get you far.

Field Barrier 2 is workable. -10MP per barrier kill isn't too bad ... hopefully your MP will be around 350 - 400.

Oh, FB will only insta-kill monsters you've faced before. It will break if you charge into a new one.

What I did ...
Jiro & Kluke
Field Barrier 2
Regenerate MP
MP +50%

each character had about 350MP. Now they both have the ability to smash. This allowed for 70+ field kills before I had to refuel the MP from 0 to full.

70+ field kills = 120 to 140 SP. It's so easy and to execute too.

140 SP is enough to take someone @ class level 1 to about level 9. That's one run around trip.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that this game is 3 disks long. When i was in the save menu i was like "hahaha they made a mistake and put disk 1 honey. Look, there's disk 1 but there's only one disk...maybe they get your hopes up." *Looks at game case* "HOLY CRAP there are 2 disks" :yay:....*Takes 2nd disk out* "WOW, there's 3 total disks for this game....i'm sorry but i'm not going to be coming over on Saturday, i'll see you sunday."

Those tigers are nasty. Be sure to tinker with the classes after you reach Jibral. There are more tigers on the way and you need to be pretty efficient with your kills.
Thanks for the heads up on those tigers. I now see why you are so wrapped up in this game man.

I have great appreciation on BD's soundtrack. It's terrific.
I'm not gonna lie...the hospital music was creeping me out a little bit, especially when i went to the doctors office.

Also when am i going to get the ability to get those treasure chests that have the seal around them.
