Freedom of speech? In GTMO? Are you insane?

You are wrong. That was Amnesty International.

If what you are saying is that the ACLU values our rights more than it values the government's ability to fight terrorism, you are absolutely correct.

Horrible example. In this example the police have the right to stop the middle eastern man because the wires are visible. There is sufficient reason for suspicion.

Simply being middle eastern is not sufficient reason to be stopped and searched.

On the contrary. The ACLU could not possibly be more pro-America.

P.S. - I'd like to add that many of those people that are Gutmo Bay have been there for 4 or more years with no charges. Even if the place is all blow jobs and happy days, the fact that they are being forced to be there is inappropriate - at least without an opportunity for trial or a charge being filed against them.

ROFL. Kid, are you serious? Your retorts were mirror images of Benjamin's!! If you're going to argue your points, please, come with some originality. I won't even respect someone who writes the basic message that the person just before him wrote. That's imbecilic and plagarism.

P.S. Benjamin, at least, backed his points with more than one-liners. Lol.

You know, if you're going to try and divert the conversation away from how you were flatly wrong on several issues (freedom of speech in GTMO, ACLU calling GTMO a gulag, etc.) I would highly suggest not using insults to do so.

Second, I don't see how you can say that I copied Benjamin's post. In fact, I went out of my way to avoid topics I felt he covered adequately, such as the ACLU's "failure" to speak out against terrorism. In fact, aside from us both speaking about amnesty international I'm not sure how Benjamin and I both spoke similarly on any issue. I will admit that I didn't his first post because it seemed like a bunch of back-and-forth on opinion issues and wordplay.

In conclusion, if you want to address I said, why don't you start by talking about what I said rather than talking about me. I think everyone here is smart enough not to fall for the tactic of attacking the person rather than the topic.

P.S. Uninformed racist/derogatory rants aren't exactly deserving of essay responses.

Holy off the topic Batman. Lets just create an ACLU thread and debate it there. No need for two threads to be hijacked...although the ACLU is kinda appropriate in the Christmas thread as they do file lawsuits against Christmas.

I don't even think it belongs there. The ACLU sues solely against government religious displays, and I think the topic being discussed in the christmas thread is about a broader de-christmasing than that.

Wow Civic asked a handful of worthwhile questions in another current thread, so, I made an ACLU thread:
