For all the people who picked the 530i, can you tell me your main reason why you picked that over the G35 sedan? The reason I ask is because interior room, reliability, power, and price all points to the G35.

My dad has a 03 Infiniti G35 sedan. Even it is almost fully loaded(with premium, leather, sunroof, winter package, HIDs, and navigation system) it costs him around $35k, when the base BMW 530i already costs $41k. Also, 5-series is a 7 years old car(since 1996? not sure), when G35 sedan is only the second year(since March 02). The only bad thing about G35 might be its engine noise is pretty obvious, and the steering wheel is pretty heavy at slow speed(like in the parking lot). But my whole family loves the car. If your family really wants a BMW, why not wait for the new 5-series to come out(expect it to arrive in the U.S. in October this year).
By the way, there are many many choices in your family's price range. If you guys could wait, the new Acura TL will come out on August, new BMW 5-series come out on October, and the third generation of Lexus GS is expected to come late this year also. I think all of these vehicles should be considered if you could wait a few months. If not, get the G35 sedan, can't be wrong.

As much as I love the 5, I wouldnt want to buy one when the all new model is coming out ina few months.
I'd think the new TL might be able to offer a lot for your family.
It seems like yall cant wait, so the G35 might be the best option for now.

Pros
- Chassis
- Gas Mileage
- Transmission (auto or manual)
- Looks
- Interior quality/materials
- Interior Design
- Ride on highway
- Resale value
- Lots of options
- Nameplate (sadly, the only nameplate that carries weight for me is the white propellor)
- Handling (with sport package)
Cons
- Reliability
- Engine
- Interior Room
- Price

I didn't vote for the BMW - but I'll tell you why people will. BMW points to prestige. And I think that overall, in terms of a mix of comfort/sportiness, the BMW will deliver the best package.

Another reason why I picked the 5 over the G35 is because of Nissans insistance on using the same engine in every one of their cars. From sport ute to sports car....I mean c'mon - it kills the image! Okay if you're transplanting from Camry to ES300, but one engine spanning an entire auto group (nissan/infiniti) is a bit ridiculous.

Also, in my opinion the G35 is just a fad (like most other Nissan products..okay maybe not the Z...but only time will tell) Clearly the 5 is known and respected by many people. Also, even being several years old, the 5 has one of the best stances/exteriors in all the industry.
