With rear fog lights, a red light in the left light housing is on and is about the intensity of the brake lights. There's usually a defeating switch inside.

but I know I've used the rear fog lights on the C320 about a dozen times when it was really foggy or when it was raining so hard you couldn't drive faster than 35mph on the freeway.

Rear fog lights ARE red.
I was following a Porsche Carrera in the rain on the Thruway at night last week and was able to keep up with him at 100-115 because of his rear fog light. He was the only car with a slightly brighter light on the left side. I applaud MINI for this!

rear fog lights are great... I see 'em on SUV trailer hitch covers & stuff... that works really well b/c of the height... an SUV trailer hitch is about eye level in my car...
maybe it should come on most cars... :dunno:
I think it'd help some of the freeway problems we have up here in the Seattle & Portland area (where it rains seemingly 300+ days a year!)

Good points. I think people here are too irresponsible/dumb to use them correctly, however.
