New CRX
I saw that other locked thread and it brought up an idea. Delete this if you want, I'm making this more for discussion purposes though.
With Honda now planning to place hybrid engines in its regular vehicles (ie Civic) as opposed to specialty cars (ie Insight), the Insight seems pretty much doomed. While it's platform does use numerous Civic parts, which helped to keep costs down, making an all new design (we're not talkin' about engine here) costs a lot. So, do you think Honda would be wise to drop the Insight, focus on the Civic Hybrid for now, stick a K20 in the Insight body and call it CRX? The Insight body is lightweight because it uses extensive aluminum, I believe it has the coveted Wishbone suspension (not sure). With some real wheels, perhaps a redesigned rear fender (get rid of the cover), would it make sense?
I think it could be pulled off. Besides the engine (the key factor), it would take good wheels (ie not Civic Si wheels), probably redesigned front bumper, and of course a differently tuned suspension.

because the insight was made specially to introduce the hybrid technology, i seriously doubt that honda would turn around and reuse the platform. its an image thing. however, i do think that the crx, in some form, will be returning soon.
The Insight platform would make a good platform, but I don't see it happening. And 160HP would be a lot...maybe an Si version, but that would eat Civic sales. It'd be hard to fit in their current lineup IMO.
