How about a 3.5L i-Vtec with IMA system sport coupe with AWD sounds to you guys? The concept of Dualnote may be a little bit too dreaming to be a NSX. However, start with the 3.0/3.5 i-Vtec engine with IMA as a base and use TL/RL/TSX platform to scratch another premium coupe as a replacement for CL and with AWD option in near future. What do you guys think? Too unrealistic or if it is a possiblity?

I didn't mean to imply that the CL replacement would be a mid engined RWD coupe based upon the next NSX, but I was wondering if the next-gen NSX platform would be flexible enough to accommodate a less expensive counterpart coupe. I honestly like the idea of a 3.5L V6 IMA and AWD Acura coupe. I think it would go a long way in bringing awareness to the applications of IMA.

On another note, what is the state of Honda's AWD system? When I think AWD, I think of Audi's quattro, so I wonder how Honda's system will compare. Does anyone have any information on it?

Who knows... but Acura needs to go AWD or RWD or else they will be stuck with 260-280hp vehicles forever.
That's a maybe. X-framed cars are a perrenial bitch to lengthen while retaining rigidity.

honda's biggest mistake w/the cl was NOT EVER designing the final production version to look like the CL-X (i.e. how chysler concepts become reality basically unchanged etc.)

If they had made the cl-X for the 2nd gen CL, i guarantee you that it wouldn't be cancelled and that the ones they have left wouldn't be barely selling for invoice

Interesting theory... the CL-X was an impressive car

everything about that concept looks agressive except the massive front over hang. Other than that, it would have been nice if Honda didn't get too conservative and make it look how it did. But conservativeness doesn't always sell.

I think Honda has learned from it's mistakes...one of which such a dramatic design like the CL-X concept might not have been easily adapted to the 5th generation Accord platform in which it was based upon.

Since the CL-X concept, such other concepts as the TL-X have been much more conservative and closer to the production version.
