Yeah there's specs, I wish there was some way I could make a chart. I just got an idea though. I'll make a chart in Word and then take a screenshot of it.

I like the SRT-4, but something holds me back from really liking it.....I cant get over the fact its a Neon.....gimme a used 240SX anyday

 

The Neon is a great bang for the buck, and if I could tolerate a machine that was similar in refinement to the Dodge Viper (compartively speaking), it'd be a hell of a deal.

But it isn't; at least not to me. You sacrafice a lot of basic creature comforts (such as tolerable road noise levels) in order for all that money to be spent on the engine.

In this group, I'd probably go with the MazdaSpeed Protege, but for the love of God, ditch that Pumpkin color and give it to me in their other color available - black. :thumbup:

 

Good news for AcuraFanatic as Mazda will be releasing the Mazdaspeed Protoge 2003.5 in 4 different colors. They have a yellow, a titanium grey, a blue (similar to the Civic Si blue), and white (i think).

If the SRT had a better interior, I'd be at the dealership right now......I like fast cars, but I also like my fast cars to have comfortable, well built interior.

When I sat in the Focus SVT at the Cleveland Auto Show, I was extremely impressed. I think it's easily the best interior of the bunch. The material quality and fit and finish was EXCELLENT, the whole thing felt perfect. I want one. :drool:

 

I finally got my pr5 in for its 7,500 mile service and found a gullible salesrep to let me take out their only mazdaspeed protege

initial impressions
-t-25 turbo that can handle up to 10psi of boost before its cfm rating goes down
-intercooler is TINY! the side mount intercoolers from the 2g eclipse turbos was much bigger. the ms protege's was only 4-5 inches wide and a foot tall. only real promising thing is it is a front mount unit and will get some good air flow when the car is moving
-just sitting still in the orange car made me feel silly...the black one should be much cleaner

driving
gobs more power than my pr5 in any gear at anyspeed
-the tranny is also much better than my pr5 as 3rd gear is hard to hit in high speed racing...but compared to a honda tranny it is still mushy and lacks the telepathy you feel in an rsx type s tranny or even a civic si unit
-LSD, you could appreciate it even without spirited driving as it pulls down low due to the small quick spool t25
-the car also handled on par with some well modified civics i've driven and been in (but it is still not an itr)

aftermath
-the msp tranny will be on the list of items i will need to get for my pr5 as it has excellent gearing and lsd and will bolt right up to mine
-the ceramic ball bearing t3 and spearco front mount unit i'm getting for my car are far superior to the msp
-all in all its very impressive and has great reflexes...it has enough power but nothing to humble its driver or passenger

 

I think MazdaSpeed shoulda taken the jaje route...

If that car has some improvments, like a bigger IC, stronger internals(thats whats limiting boost), and NO GODDAMN PEACH COLOUR, it could match the SRT-4...

And i know I'd pay a few grand extra for better build quality....
