Hot damn!!! That thing looks sweet. But I bet that it weighs more than the top of the line coupe version. If that is the case I hope that they up the HP on this one.

Upcoming Road & Track article compares the Z(hardtop), M3 SMG, Z06, and Porshe 911

0-60 Z06 4.5 M3 4.9 911 5.0 350Z 5.8

1/4 mile Z06 12.8 M3 & 911 13.5 350Z 14.4

Skidpad Z06 .98 911 .92 M3 .89 350Z .88

Slalom 911 65.5 350Z 67.3 Z06 67.6 M3 67.3

Lap time Z06 1:36.50 350Z 1:40.06 M3 1:40.09 911 1:40.79

Braking 80-0 Z06 204' 911 208' 350Z & M3 213'

Performance per $ Z06 10.0 350Z 7.8 M3 7.6 911 6.1

M3 SMG II $55,695
Vette Z06 $51,450
350Z Track $34,688
911 Targa $84,975

Why did they slap the Z in on this high of a car class. The porshe is more than TWICE the price of the Z. The Z did have a better laptime than the M3 and 911(WTF). With more tuning the VQ might be able to keep up.

If the Z can hang with the big boys, image what the GT-R can do.

PS - What is the status on the next NSX? I am ready for a real shocker

Any dead on shots of the rear? The 350Z Coupe sort of had a hatchback-isque appearance, which is flattened off for the convertible. It might look sort of awkward...maybe not.

Status of next NSX is as good of a guess as anybody's...but it'll still mid-engined...that's a definite.

If you read the article, they did the comparison to see if all these other cars are really worth the $$ for the performance. The conclusion is that the Z is kinda like the Z06. They spent the $$ on performance rather than luxury. But the Z06 win. Neither of these two car really have a good competitor for their price/performance.

I've always felt that the E46 M3 was under tired for the chassis/engine.

There are several people running 255 up front and 275 or 285 in the rear.

But good for the 350Z I'm not that surprised it did so well. I has all the right combinations. I'll probably never buy one. I Simply don't like the design.

In terms of having a high performance level for the price...sure. But there are the S2000, RX-8, EVO and WRX STi to deal with.

The Z06 was 3.5 seconds a lap quicker than the 350Z, which is a huge difference.

I just thought that the Z was made to trail or undercut these cars and the GT-R was to blow them out. I think the Z needs a boost in power ummmmmmmm 300hp would be nice. I think the next S2000 should drop the F20 and pick up the NSX's old engine or atleast have them as options.

That would defeat the true heritage of Honda's sports car that dates back to 1963 with the S500. :squint:

Typical Nissan mentality thinking larger displacement is always better. :fawk:
