Pics from Acura. Apparently, an Acura dealer who first leaked this information claims we will see a Type-S but not immediately, more like in the fall. Oh well. Seems like a reasonable step above the Accord with the 17" wheels, audio system (which is really surprising in its power), HID's, and drive by wire.

Man, for a base that sounds pretty good. I'd be willing to wait until fall if they made the Type-S worth it

 

It's not a 4 door RSX remember, it's positioned slightly above the Accord and below the TL. Also, the Accord has dual zone climate control on the EX-L, EX-V6, and EX-V6 6 speed.

I'd love to know their plans for Type-S...buttoned down suspension, better looks, standard aero kit (as Honda likes calling it), and 220-240HP?

Damn that sounds great. A true 5-speed sequential? I hope it doesn't suck like Toyota's.

Now all we need is price.

It's a SportShift, not a true sequential. Expect price to be somewhere between $25,000 and $27,500, and you're welcome

 

Sounds promising. This really is exactly what Acura dealers need. Someone looking for an Accord sedan with more performace, and mabe a little better looking. I would like to see the final release photos, but I guess we have to wait a little while longer for that.

 

Sounds all good, but waiting until Honda says something. They haven't even confirmed the name TSX yet (or have they?). Never take a dealer's info 100%. Remember the Altima's "250hp" for 2003.

 

200 hp does not bode well. If it were RWD it would be excusable but all you get in a TSX is a slightly smaller (although not by much) and more luxurious Accord. Ya ya it's just the base model but with no higher-hp Type-S model to create a halo effect what's there to bring people into the showrooms?

Tons of people buy Eclipses, mainly on its reputation as a "high performance" car as created by the 15% that were sold as turbos. Same deal with Integras, RSXes and Celicas too really. People think about getting the GSR, Type-S or GT-S and then decide that the higher price, premium gas only and extra insurance costs aren't worth it so they go for a lower-down model. Hell, companies will even try to cash in on halo models that aren't even sold in this market. Witness the Mitsubishi Lancer O.Z. Rally edition and first generation Subaru Impreza 2.5RS.

The TSX and Accord are just too similar in price point and overall feel that there needs to be something to distinguish the TSX aside from an 'A' badge and a perceived increase in sportiness.
