Honda-Acura.Net Car of the Week 12.12-12.19: 2003 BMW Z4
Previous Winner: Audi A4 Avant Quattro
------------------------------
This car has been kind of beaten to hell in discussion, but I'm hoping we can have a good 'vs. others' conversation here, since we've never done that. Enjoy, and remember to vote in the poll and add your opinion

Pros: Controversial but unique styling, wonderful powertrains, retro interior that is both ergonomically perfect and beautiful, typical BMW build quality, far better handling than its predecessor.
Cons: More expensive than S2000 and 350Z, styling some find revolting
HAN Take: The new ultimate driving machine from BMW, with slick powertrains and a flashy new design. It's more driveable than the S2000, but not quite the athlete.

For looks, I think I would vote for the Z4, but for performance and price, I'd vote for the 350Z. Since performance is more importance to me, I voted for the 350Z. Unless I can vote for both .

I agree with you 100% there. I really do. But my vote goes to the Z4....I can't explain why. Maybe I'm a victim of BMW's superb marketing team. But I just love that damn car...I can't wait to drive it. From what I've read about it, it's more of a car for me than the 350Z. Smaller, lighter, more tossable, Clive Owens, slick Inline Six...those damn BMW Films :fawk:

Exactly, that personal choice. You're split like me but leaned toward the BMW and I leaned toward the 350Z. I think I like the abundant of Torque and the linear acceleration. I wish the Z could be a little lighter too but I guess ~3200 lb will have to do. Also the fact that NISMO is coming to the US in 2003 only make my decision more firm. Can you imagine 350Z TT .

350Z wins my vote here. I have to admit that the Germans make damn fine automobiles, especially BMW, but when it comes down to price/performance/looks, you can't beat the Japanese.
I have to admit, I'm definately waiting for a 350Z TT. Any chance of that happening?

I voted for the S2000, I love driving high revving cars with no torque. It makes me feel like I'm involved in the car and it's driving.
But if I lived in a city or in a place of heavy traffic, I'd do the Z4 hands down.
The looks of the Z4 are growing on me. Still not liking those headlamps though.

Or, id wait and get the M version of the Z4. I mean imagine the Z4 with another 100hp+. yeah, nice. Lets see, i also really like the S2000, 350Z and Boxster. But like I said, if i had 50k, id spend it ont he Z06. If i had 35k, id buy an S2000 or 350Z.
So, my vote will go to a Z06 if that is possible. Is it?
