Default 2003 Honda Accord Coupe Factory Performance Package

Honda Accord Coupe Factory Performance

Las Vegas 11/05/2002 -- A Factory Performance package will be available for the 2003 Honda Accord Coupe early next year, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today at the 2002 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

The dealer-installed Factory Performance (FP) package adds a high performance sport-tuned suspension with aggressively calibrated shocks and springs, new wheels and tires, and an aerodynamic body kit.

Accord Coupe Factory Performance components include:

- High performance springs reduce ride height by about one-inch and lower the Accord's roll center
- High performance shock absorbers are tuned for enhanced road handling characteristics and decreased body roll
- 17x7 alloy wheels
- High performance tires (215/50VR-17)
- Full aerodynamic under-body kit (front, sides and rear)
- Rear wing spoiler
- FP Badging and Shift Knob
"The Factory Performance package gives the 2003 Accord a distinctive, custom appearance and a high pedigree of handling performance without compromising the factory specifications," said Jim Roach, American Honda Vice President of the Parts Division. "All of the Honda-engineered and manufactured Factory Performance parts meet the same high level of engineering as the rest of the car."

The Accord Factory Performance package will be available exclusively through Honda dealers nationwide and will be installed at the dealer. The package carries the same warranty as any Honda Accessory (3-years, 36,000 miles) and does not affect the factory warranty. An MSRP has not been announced yet. The package can be installed on all 2003 Accord V-6 Coupes (LX and EX) with either manual or automatic transmissions. A 2003 Accord Coupe equipped with the FP package is on display at SEMA. A similar Factory Performance package will also be available for the 2003 Civic EX Coupe.

I love it. The color of the car in the pics is fruity, but I love this FP. I know it will retail at around 4-5 grand...but it's a free country. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

This fricken thing is lowered by an inch...the Civic was only like 27 MM and same with the RSX. The springs, shock absorbers, tires, fog lights, wheels, underbody kit, and spoiler would probably retail for 3 grand seperate...but this is Honda waranteed and carries resale value. Plus, you could always trade these 17 inchers for the 6 speed's 17 inchers if you don't like em, I'm sure the dealer would allow it or do it for a couple hundred.

I'm so glad Honda is finally catering to the people that it has been ignoring since 2000 when the ITR left our shores. Bravo, Honda

I guess the key question is how much? If the 2 dr. V6 w/ the FP package goes above $30k, why would anyone get them? Springs only cost about $200, rims and tires should have been stock on the V6 anyways. Body kit sounds good though and it looks really good too. Very clean and subtle. Rear spoiler should be stock too considering it shouldn't cost that much and even cheaper cars have spoilers, why would they make this an FP option for the accord? I guess the only part I like about the FP option is the body kit. Other stuff, either it should be standard or you can do much better w/ aftermarket parts, like full coilovers, rims and tires.

I think that this FP is Honda's best attempt so far...so but I know it will cost way more than what it's worth.

Also, what kind of extra badging do you get? I hope it doesn't say "Factory Performance" on it.

Hehe, that'll be funny if it is a badge that say "Factory Performance". I know this is the first attempt from Honda to do these kinds of stuff and I applaud them for that but if you look at other japanese manufactures they need to try harder. Toyota has TRD which only tune handling but also HP. Same w/ L-Tune for Lexus, Nismo for Nissan (which should be here around May) and Mazdaspeed from Mazda.

See my previous post.

Jeff, the Civic says FP on its side skirts...that's it. It's not a flashy decal or anything.

The wheels look ugly and heavy. The body kit makes the car look bloated, especially in the rear.

Me personally if for some reason I bought an Accord V6 coupe I'd just add a set of S-03's, some lowering springs and some adjustable shocks. Probably costs less than this FP package, doesn't stand out as much, and performs better.

I agree about the wheels, not the kit.

You know, I'd do the exact same thing...and it would cost FAR less than the FP. But the FP might have S-03's...the Concept does, and it does say 'High Performance Tires'. But they certainly will get all bought up...I mean, it's all waranteed and that's worth some bucks by itself.

I'm refering to their TRD department. I'm assuming the FP is an option, not a new model. If so, then you can buy TRD performance parts and if it's installed by Toyota, you'll have factory warantee. What i'm refering to is the Supercharger for the Tacoma. I'm not 100% sure about cat back and other stuff but I was specifically refering to the supercharger. NISMO is working on a turbo kit for the 350Z and when they officially open, you'll be able to order the turbo as an option.
