Default 2007 Honda Civic Type R

Honda today unveiled the 2007 Civic Type R, a high-performance version of the Civic hatchback for the European and Asian markets. Referred to by Honda as a "superhatch," the new Type R continues to be powered by the naturally-aspirated, high-revving 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine but the unit has been significantly reworked to improve responsiveness using a new balancer shaft and drive-by-wire throttle control. VTEC variable valve timing and VTC variable inlet camshaft technology continue to underpin the engine structure. Further development of the Type R unit means more useable torque, as the switch to high-lift, long duration valve timing (the cam change) now takes place at a lower 5,200rpm, and continues all the way to 8,000rpm. Max output is now 201 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, compared to 200 horsepower at 7,400 rpm. Acceleration to 62 mph takes 6.6 seconds — identical to the previous car.

Wow. That car is absolutely amazing. And while I'm sure it'll never make it into the US, let me just be one to say that I'd trade my Suby in on one in no time.

It's pure Honda nirvana.

However, we'll never see it in the USA because we already got a similar car: the Civic Si coupé, which is powered by almost the same engine.

Did they change the front end a bit since those concept pics? It's starting to grow on me...

Seems like its double exhaust

Looks really sharp. Wish we could get still get hatchbacks over here.

I had an 87 Accord 'S' which was a hatchback. So versatile.

That looks terrible.
Front lower grill combined with those goofy triangle fogs makes it look like a bottom feeding fish
Side profile, especially from the crease up looks Ford Ka
Rear attempts to incorporate CRX elements and fails miserably. Looks more like that cheap Mercedes hatchback. Or maybe a minivan. That wing is just dumb.

I do like the triangle dual exhaust though.
