Didn't the fit just enter into the U.S. market earlier this year?

the fit was first sold in japan in 2001, then in europe in 2002. it's already due for a redesign in the rest of the world.

for america, it'd be a little odd to replace a brand new model in such a short time. but i think there's going to be a new xA coming out next year, as a 2008 model. so if honda were to bring out a new fit in 2009 or 2010, it would be immediately more competitive. otherwise they'd have to wait a couple years... only honda knows what honda's planning.

The hot rumor going on from a couple of online Scion fan forums is that we'll see both the new Scion xA and xB models by January 2007. The scuttlebutt is that the new xA will be derived from the Toyota Ractis "tall wagon," and the xB could be one of the first models to be built on the next-generation Corolla platform.

As for the new Fit, note that Honda directly sourced the North American market model from its Japanese factory. That means Honda decided not to build the current Fit at its North American factories, so this will allow Honda to build the next-generation Fit, probably starting first at its new Greensburg, Indiana assembly line.
