Default 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Spy Spots

A few days old, but here they are.

It took five long days, hundreds of miles and more caffeine than we can admit, but after days of watching a commercial photo shoot from afar, our photographer finally got a chance to photograph the new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado as it sprinted out of a car carrier and ran through a car wash. The camera-ready Crew Cab was decked out in the Z71 off-road package, and wearing brochure-red paint.

Riding on the GMT900 platform, the Silverado's introduction comes after that of the full-size SUVs, and until now, the new truck has been very well hidden behind yards of black vinyl. Although this was originally scheduled to arrive as a 2008 model, Chevrolet has been working at a fast pace and the Silverado will likely make its debut this fall, with production starting as early as October. And, as one can clearly see, this is no Tahoe clone: it offers a unique look including stacked headlamps, which separate the trucks from the SUVs.

We're a bit surprised that the Silverado doesn't have some of the signature styling from the 2003 Cheyenne Concept, such as the wraparound glass at the back of the cab. But we think consumers will be pleasantly surprised with both the styling and car-like refinement that the Silverado is said to have. This Silverado, for example, is equipped with a roof rack and back-up sensors.

Yeah I noticed that to, but didn't mention anything because it is, after all, a pre-production model

You have to wonder if its going to be another rickety rattle box truck or if GM is actually building better trucks now.

I rode in my neighbor's 2001 Silverado. It was a rattle box.

If anything, I see a lot of Ford F-series cues in the design. :chuckles:
Granted, they're done rather cheaply and inconsistently, but what can you reasonably expect?

GM has a bad habit of making really ugly wheels.

Yep. These look almost identical to the ones offered on the Blazer 10 years ago. :chuckles:
But the Cobalt SS provides the most damning evidence of all.

Anyway...this truck isn't going to break new ground, it would appear.
