Chrysler recalls Jeep Grand Cherokees

JUN. 12 9:40 A.M. ET DaimlerChrysler AG said Monday that it was recalling about 111,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees after receiving reports of overheating and fires in heated seats.

The automaker said it had received 32 complaints of the front seat electric heater element overheating or leading to a fire. DaimlerChrysler spokesman Max Gates said the automaker knew of a few cases of injuries but did not have an exact number.

DaimlerChrysler does not know of any crashes resulting from the defect, Gates said.

The recall involves the 2003-2004 model years of the Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicle with heated seats.

Owners are expected to receive letters about the recall in July.

It's not an uncommon problem with heated seats.

the idea is that the prom queen daddy's girls butts get burned when they get into their brand new jeep with a mini and no panties on in the middle of january only to crank it up to 10.

Funny, the less gizmos the throw on the better off they would be. The seat warmers in my Forester are actually kinda weak...

you live in south carolina... i don't think you understand the idea of seat warmers.

i mean i think that the lowest you guys had was that cold streak in 85, and that wasn't even in the single digits, when it is 20 degrees outside at 7am (consistantly) and you get into your car with seat warmers, you notice they are there.

When was the last time you were here? I used my seat warmers on numerous occasions this past winter. Yes, it gets "cold" here too.
