Honda willing to share hybrid vehicle technology with other automakers - report
05.23.2006, 09:20 PM

TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Honda Motor Co is willing to share its proprietary hybrid and diesel-engine technologies with other carmakers, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, citing President Takeo Fukui.

'If requested, we will positively discuss technology transfers,' he said in an interview with the business daily.

Honda announced last week it will introduce a hybrid subcompact in 2009. It also plans to roll out within three years a diesel-powered car that runs as clean as gasoline models, as well as a new vehicle that runs on fuel cells.

The report said Honda's willingness to share hybrid technologies are part of an effort to maintain its leading position in the environmentally friendly car market as the US introduces strict emission regulations in 2009.
