There's this thing called advertising, and to the general car-buying public that is not stuck on buying one or two brands, such comparisons generally produce a favorable reaction.

Which falls right into the type of people that Hyundai appeals to. It's pretty easy to stereotype them.

It's probably even easier to sell a car to them.

Salesman: "Here's a nice Azera. It has more room than a BMW!"

Customer: "Wow! That's great! I can get a car that has something even a BMW doesn't! I'll take it!"

What happened to the new Theta engines that Hyundai was co-developing with Chrysler and Mitsubishi? I thought that the next generation products would get them (I believe that the Dodge Caliber already has it), including the new Elantra and Mitsu Lancer replacement due out next year. I'm very surprised the 2007 Elantra soliders on with this powerplant.

I think it was scrapped when Chrysler got rid of shares(?) in Mitsubitchi. I could be wrong, though.
