Default Honda: 2005 Year in Review

Firing on almost all cylinders:

Growth in Japan sounds a little sketchy, versus the resurgent Nissan.

Well, it has a new hit in the Odyssey but most of the Honda Japan lineup, especially the Fit, is getting pretty old.

Interesting you would mention the Fit because that model is still one of the hottest-selling cars in Japan, with over 10,000 sold every month! That is pretty impressive considering that the basic design hasn't changed in nearly five years, a tribute to the fact the Fit's extremely flexible interior arrangements have yet to be matched by any competitor outside of the Toyota Ractis "tall wagon" that just recently went on sale in Japan.

I wouldn't buy a car named 'Ractis.' And no, Toyota-JDM's RACTIS website didn't do a very good job of trying to convince me otherwise.

"Kondo also predicted light trucks will make up about 44 percent of Honda's U.S. sales next year, up from 42 percent in 2005 and 40 percent in 2004."

:headscratch: Are the Odyssey and Pilot considered trucks? They can't mean the Ridgeline.

Ever looked at a Honda sales chart? The CR-V, Element, Pilot, and now Ridgeline are considered 'trucks' by American Honda. I think the Ody is too, but I'd have to rekindle my memory by looking at an actual chart [no cheating! eh!].
