Default Edmunds 2002-2003 Entry-Level Luxury Sport Sedans Comparison Test

The Nissan folks won't like this. To sum it up, results basically repeats Car & Driver comparo:

1. BMW BMW 330i
--MSRP of Test Vehicle: $39,510
--Pros: Muscular and symphonic inline six, agile handling and steering, comfortable ride, strong brakes, excellent build quality.
--Cons: Pricey options, small rear seat accommodations, minimal center console storage.

2. Acura 3.2 TL Type-S Navi (tie)
--MSRP of Test Vehicle: $33,710
--Pros: Plenty of power, a boatload of standard features, roomy back seat.
--Cons: Lacks a true luxury feel, transmission somewhat slow when shifted manually.

2. Audi A4 3.0 quattro (tie)
--MSRP of Test Vehicle: $38,410
--Pros: Sumptuous cabin, capable handling, strong brakes, all-wheel-drive traction.
--Cons: Mediocre acceleration for a sport sedan, gets pricey with options, cramped rear quarters compared to rivals.

4. 2003 Infiniti G35
--MSRP of Test Vehicle: $32,420
--Pros: Powerful V6 engine, a lot of features for the money, accommodating rear seat.
--Cons: Lacks steering feedback compared to some rivals, touchy brake pedal feel.

5. 2003 Cadillac CTS
--MSRP of Test Vehicle: $36,765
--Pros: Spacious cabin, capable handling, smooth manual transmission.
--Cons: Mediocre ride quality on rough pavement, intrusive stability control, strange design elements.

:jawdrop: How can a 4 year old Honda beat out a brand new Infiniti? I'm serious, that some messed up stuff. Hopefully the new TL will finally overtake the 3-Series

it won't be TLs job to take over the 3 series anymore its gonna be the TSX that takes over the 3 series and the TL that takes over the 5 series

TL vs Higher Output V6/I6 Entry Level Premiums (BMW 330i, MB 320, A4 3.0, G35, IS300, etc....)

TSX vs i4 & Lower Output V6/i6 Entry Level Premiums (BMW 325, MB 240, Saab 9-3, A4 1.8t, etc....)

Yeah...that's how its going to be positioned.

good point, but people cross shop based on price (and namebrand) more so than anything else.

Because all these comparisons are subjective.

These comparo are interesting read but they don't sway my opinions in anway.

Nissan is still my ace :thumbup:

Theyve done something that you dont have a chance to do, drive all these cars back to back.

If yoy still prefer a nissan, thats understandable, i usually prefer a honda. But thats becuase it usually wins the comparisons too

As I've said before, I don't care for the G35's brakes...people yelled at me for saying it and said it was BS, but edmunds agrees. Most cars in that price range, you gradually apply pressure and you get good feedback. When you press the G35's brakes halfway, it feels like you're pressing them 4/5 of the way.

I cant find what magaize this is from, but the braking times are due to a very aggressive brake pad. When G35 owners get pads in half the time they expected to, they wont be too happy.

So to sum it all up so far this year the score looks like this:

Acura = 0 wins
Audi = 0 wins
BMW = 2 wins (C/D, Edumds)
Cadillac = 0 wins
Infiniti = 2 wins (R/T, MT)

One more for the tie breaker, so that leaves Automobile Magazine

By the way who was right C/D, MT, R/T, or Edmunds?
