"It is not a viable business case anymore," says Hans-Gerd Bode, a VW spokesman at the company's global headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Anymore? That implies it made sense at some point in history!!! Did anyone other than VW Germany think this was a bad idea? $85k for a Vee-Dub? Especially to Baby Boomers who relate VW to Micro-buses and Beetles?!?!?!?
Having said all that, it did seem like a nice car -- just the wrong badge.

Well regardless of whether or not the Audi dude was right (and I'm sure we pretty much all think he was) that doesn't mean it was smart behavior on his part to talk that way about his own company.

But especially not in a corporate culture like Volkswagen.
