I voted for the 5-series.

As for the M45, ugh... the exterior has successfully conveyed the message "old geezer driving". The interior looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff of the Q45 interior. And if C&D is to be trusted (and as Honda fans, of course it is! ), the interior's gonna be too small for anyone of American height (not enough legroom, short cushions, and no headroom)

Oh, and the VW Phaeton is way too expensive to be considered in this group. It's an S-class, 7-series, A8 competitor.

You're right. I wasn't too sure where VW was placing the Phaeton or what the expected msrp was. I still wonder why they're turning the Phaeton to eat up one of the company's own (A8), but that's another discussion for another day. Phaeton picture taken out.

i can't vote yet...i have to drive the m45...but i think the car looks more muscular...like what the mercury marauder should have looked like...though the infinti is a much much better overall car

i like the m45 over the 5 series in exterior looks...i'm sure i'd choose the 5 series with sport package and definitely the m5 if i ever got a chance to drive them back to back

Phaeton no, but what about the Passat W8 4Motion? That's getting pretty close to $40K.

As for the Phaeton vs A8, I though the point was that Volkswagen brand would be heading up VAG's Luxury Division and Audi brand would be heading up the Sport Division. So while they seem to be competing with each other, in the mind of VAG honchos, they're not. The Phaeton is supposed to be their response to luxo-cruisers like the Lexus LS430 and Mercedes S430, while the Audi A8 goes up against the sportier BMW 745i and Jaguar XJ8.

Definetly the 5 series. I'm not a huge luxury advocate, or the E would be my choice. The 5 has it all...style, power, finesse, responsiveness, the nameplate, some luxury. And a new one is due out soon, imagine that. I'll take my 540i with the Sport Package please.

Nissan cannot take on the Germans with a rebadged 4 year old Jap sedan...no way. They have to design something from the ground up to do it. This car is an Infiniti Q45 in lamb's clothing.

Easy. It's like a BMW with no finesse, no luxury, no looks, and no handling. Simple enough
