Default Mazda5 recalled for fire hazard

http://www.cnn.com/2005/AUTOS/09/27/mazda/index.html

"NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Mazda Motor Corp. has halted the sale and production of selected 2006 Mazda5 vehicles because a potential heat buildup in the exhaust system could start a fire.

The recall affects about 5,500 vehicles, 2,700 of which have been sold or are still in dealer lots, according to Jeremy Barnes, Mazda's product communications manager."

hah. not quite yet. first they'd have to find out about the problem internally, supress it and any evidence supporting it, and wait for it to become a problem that potentially affects thousands and thousands of vehicles (and lives) on the road. nooone will notice for a while, until someone blows a whistle or uncovers the coverup. then, they can do the recall.
