Default BMW says Just kidding... (Z4 M Roadster, Z4 Coupe)

When they said they were not going to build a M version of the Z4.

The Z4 based M Roadster will be built using the current E46 M3s S54 engine. They have not officially announced the car in the US but considering they sell more M cars in the US than ROW combined, it's probably going to happen.

There was speculation that the new V8 engine that is going to be used in the E90 M3 might be used, however, because of difficulty of assembly (the engine fits but it has to come in from the top) this may not happen.

Also a twin turbo 3.0L (GAS) engine is confirmed for the e90. It will be badged as 335i and produce 350hp(euro spec).

Dang, a 330i is already like $42k when nicely (but not fully) optioned. It tops out at I think 51k full boat. I wonder if a 335i will hit the 60k mark? The 3-series is a nice car but damn, they're getting pricey. :eek3:

I doubt it. My guess is that the 335i will be close to the e46 330i convertible price.

$53K basically with all factory options.

Sometimes I really wonder, where exactly did those money go. It's like paying celebrity for a crappy movie I guess, BMW or BENZ and whatnot (yes, you, VW and Audi) just decided that since their targeted audience has money so lets just charge whatever sounds ridiculous.

I mean, what in the world is in a sedan for $50,000 (that features unlimited electrical problems thanks to great German engineering)? Did they sacrificed 10 horses while building it?

Okay I'm going to make one more comment on the price thing and then it's back to the topic.

A nicely equipped $42k BMW 330i is a ridiculously better car than a $35k Infiniti G35 with more options on it than the bimmer.

The balance of the chassis, the quality of the materials, the feel of the controls, the overall composure of the whole thing, there's just no comparison.

Lucky for BMW there's enough people out there that care about those things, or they just care about the brand, that BMW is having no problems sellin gplenty of cars. For those people that don't see the value in it, there are ofhter choices.

Now back to the original topic.

OK one comment and I'll get back to topic.

The same wine in the USA is often few times that of some other western countries because of the snob factor. Not saying it's bad wine, but the pricing is determined by its pretentious imagery associated with it in the USA. There are people who cares a lot about wine, but don't want to pay for the imagery that's embedded with wine. In German VW cars are pretty expensive, yet they aren't in the USA (well they are, but not as). Pricing sometimes has very little to do with the product, the quality of the product is of course the most important.

A H2 is charging over 50K. But most likely you aren't going to say it's ridiculously better than a 42k Bimmer. Bad comparison, but H2 is selling as its product based on imagery and not much on actual product. Bimmer and Benz (some can say Lexus, too) sell most of their product because of the imagery. They are fine cars, but I am saying that the hefty pricetag has a lot to do with the "fine" and "luxurious" image that's associated with them.
