Default Volkswagen to recall 40,000 US Jetta's due to fuel fire risk

Volkswagen AG said on Thursday that its US division will recall nearly 40 000 Jettas because of a problem with the fuel system.

The Wolfsburg-based car maker - Europe's biggest - said the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration asked for the recall.

VW said there was a problem with the fuel system that could lead to a loss of gasoline and possibly cause a fire, the US agency said.

It wasn't immediately clear if there were any accidents or injuries.

I'm not sure if this is for the brand new Jetta, or the previous model. The fact that the recall doesn't involve the Golf suggests it's for the new car, but I don't know if they've sold 40,000 of em in the USA already. Oh well.
