It so that they can make a sports car. This IS the norm until wall street bankers realized that if they paid more money for a car they should have MORE power than those cheaper cars out there, even though they don't need it. So it makes more sense for a sports car to have more HP then a luxury sedan. But sadly that's not so in most cases.

Give luxury cars the luxury they deserve, and give sports cars the power they deserve.
