Anyone heard anything about a honda accord or civic convertible option?

 

All signs points to no.

 

there was one... it was called the del sol... but it failed to sell the numbers of the miata because it was FWD.

the only room for convertibles is in the RWD market (esp for 2 seaters) hence why they stopped making the CRX convertible (del sol) and started making the s2k

unless you want a sebring or that bathtub of a looking cabrio VW used to sell, there isnt much for you in the FWD convertible segment... just not enough backing (i believe those are some of the only fwd verts' i think that the mr2 is RWD..correct me?)

anyway...

i wouldnt be looking for a convertible version of the civic or accord anytime soon, but i would love to see a convertible option before the final NSX's roll off the line.

 

This is my first actual post, although I've been a forum lurker for quite some time. I had to register and reply after reading the subject line of this thread. For the last three years, I've been saving up $$ and researching convertibles, anticipating getting one in 2004/2005.

I've always been a Honda devotee (have a Civic and CR-V), and for the past 3 years, I was holding out for Honda to come out with a convertible Accord to compete with the Solara and Seabring. I finally stopped dreaming (or maybe lost my patience), so I just recently sold my Civic and bought a 2002 BMW 325 convertible (Certified Pre-owned, so I have the warranty and free service for another approx. 3 years). I love my BMW, but am still hoping to see a convertible Accord, or comparable Acura convertible, a few years from now when I have the itch to get a newer car again.

I'm still convinced that if Honda or Acura came out with a convertible Accord or TSX/TL, they would have a market for it. It will be interesting to see what the upcoming Pontiac G6 convertible stirs up in the convertible market, especially since it's a hard top.

 

And yet there are _several_ FWD coupe convertibles in Europe. Hyundai showed a CC version of the Tiberon in Europe. Don't know if it ever made it to market. They didn't even show it in N Am.

Hyundai probably wants to sell the convertible Tiburon in the US.

 

Seeing as the Tiburon is now considered the higher-quality alternative to the Mitsubishi Eclipse, that makes sense.

 

But the Tiburon is nicer than the Eclipse! Both are big and heavy, but the Hyundai has a decent interior. In terms of engine, Hyundai versus Mitsubishi is the Special Olympics. Who cares, show me yer best price.

 

i dont like convertibles to much cept for a few .. so i guess the way the civic is right now ... im pretty happy with .. wouldn't wanna c one in a conv.
