Default 2006 Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible and coupe

(click for bigger versions)

Oprah isn't the only one showing off the new Pontiac G6. But Oprah only had the sedans, and we've caught the upcoming convertible and coupe versions.

The sporty coupe will reach dealerships in early 2005, but the convertible will not make its retail appearance until the third quarter of 2005 as a 2006 model.

The convertible, with an annual projection of 40,000 sales, will be equipped with a retractable hardtop, much like those on models priced far more expensively. No word on powerplants, but a V-6 with at least 250 hp is expected.

Looks like this is aimed squarely at the Sebring and Solara market. The G6 dashboard looks like crap (and I'm assuming it will be used here too) but the hardtop convertible will definitely lure more than a few buyers into Pontiac showrooms.

I don't have my hopes up about GM yet though. This is a glimmer of one intelligent decision overshadowed by a whole slew of other crappy models.

Sometimes I wonder how "spy" are spy pics. These are pretty much "oh ok stand next to that thang and let me take a pic" pictures.

see the "attach files" box in the "Additional Options" section, which is below the the the "Reply to Thread" section, as long as you're not doing a quick reply

Because the Solara convertible has insanely low time to turn and sells at or very close to sticker price.

Because old people are not as critical of the solara the way we do here.
