Yeah mostly imports though. Still seems like the big three american companies are dragging their feet. Now they can't say its not possible. Im sure they are still happy with their oversized gas guzzling suvs.

I'm just glad to see that the big three are putting focus back into their passenger cars and sportscars now. The SUV fad has reached its peak as far as I'm concerned and its good that even domestic brands are now forced to shape up their environmental image. Maybe this will beckon the return of smaller station-wagon type vehicles over top-heavy 4WD trucks that 90% of us do not need every day.
I just hope that it's not too little, too late for the ultra high performance sportscar market. A Hybrid or hydrogen powered Corvette? We'll see.

If the big three could just buy in to the LEV with ALL of their vehicles
h: Get rid of the gas hogg emission tanks (aka suv's) and get to business with LEV Corvettes, new Camaros/Firebirds, the new GTO BETTER be at least LEV, and everything from the LeSabre to Malibu and the like....... if Honda can make 240 hp V6 motors that are ULEV, the big three could make 350 hp V8's the same.
That is, if they want to

Of course the only true ZEV is solar powered vehicles.
even pure electric vehicles still contribute to the over all pollution.
US isn't like taiwan where most of their electricity is produced by Nuclear reactors.

Very true, fastball. Even an LEV Cavalier would be an accomplishment, and that's not saying a whole lot
Since they're actually rethinking their product lineup and using new engine offerings (2.2L DOHC Ecotec Four and 4.2L Vortec Inline six) it's very possible they're already on the way to making good on lower emissions cars, if not trucks and SUVs. A press release would confirm or deny this.
I agree totally with LEV rated GM sportscars. That should be easy for them, and it's a shame they aren't doing it yet. I'd keep an eye on Saturn first and see what emissions technology may permeate through the GM lineup.

While a lot of people are saying 'it's lower, but still has emissions,' keep in mind that in urban areas, the exhaust of a SULEV car is cleaner than its intake.
