the car is almost completely covered by tarp to disguise its origins and shape...i don't know how you can already make a judgement on its looks...i usually wait until i can see what the car will actually look like

Default for N. Am?

OK, now I see why Honda might be worried about N. Am. acceptance of this, as mentioned in MT.

The _huge_ steeply raked windshield is not covered by a tarp. At the back, you seem to be able to still make out things like the area of the back window, even under the black stuff. It doesn't look like a heavy disguise.

I think it is rather obvious that this is not the new Civic. I think it's either an Alfa, a Peugeot or the new CRX. The design, especially the dual exhaust, is way too much of a radical departure for Honda.

It is more than likely the new Civic shape, but the 3dr/5dr hatch that is much more widely popular in Europe and Japan than it is in North America. Even Honda Japan list the regular Civic as a hatch, not the saloon.

The 4dr saloon/2dr coupe that is much more popular in North America will probably only see a hint of the same design as that in the spy picture, but will look much more different and not as frumpy. North America will probably never see that Civic in the next gen model, unless the Si is continued or Honda decides to start selling the Civic hatch here again. Even then, the saloon and coupe will still be much more popular than the hatch.

Keep in mind that the most common Civic body style over in Europe is the 5-door.

The current trend in European-market hatchbacks is to make them sort of tall fastbacks. For example the new Focus (which before anyone asks, isn't coming to the USA anytime soon):
