2006 Hummer H3
HUMMER's long-awaited follow-up to the "it" vehicle of 2002 will bow today at the Anaheim auto show. The mid-size HUMMER H3 shares its fundamentals with the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon pickups, reinforced for heavier-duty off-road capability essential to the HUMMER nameplate, execs say. The H3 is 16.9 inches shorter in length than the H2, 6 inches shorter in height and 6.5 inches narrower. Power comes from a 220-hp, 3.5-liter in-line five-cylinder engine also available on the compact pickup trucks, and buyers can choose either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox, though four-wheel drive is standard. Stabilitrak stability control is standard, while leather seats, an electric sunroof, a DVD nav system, XM satellite radio, and larger 33-inch tires are optional. HUMMER promises fuel economy of up to 20 mpg. The H3 goes on sale in spring 2005. Pricing isn't final but a tag in the mid-$30,000 range is expected.

Due to the general crappiness of cars in the 30 to 40 segment, people had forgotten that
1. 35,000 is (was) a lot of money for a car
2. it's way too much money for a truck
3. it's way too much money for a truck that doesn't function like a truck
4. it's way too much money for a function-less truck with sloppy interior
