You did afterall say "totally different company/manufacturer", which wouldnt be the case.

I'd more likely guess Triumph. Maybe the Spitfire?

h: Perhaps an fallen icon. Would notorious have been a better adjective?

Porsche 944(DSM Starquest derived 2.5L 4 Cyl. Engine)
Land Rover Discovery rebadged as Honda Crossroads in Japan...but yes youre right
Yep
Nissan 350Z. Apparently the Vq35 is a french design.
Seeing as John DeLorean was an American who just so happened to build his car in Ireland, I wouldn't really call it British.
No.
The engine in the 944 was 2.5 liters with port fuel injection--essentially it was one half of the 928's V8. The Starion/Conquest had a 2.6 liter engine with throttle body injection.
Also, it was not a DSM since it was built in Japan. The Conquest had "Imported for Chrysler by Mitsubishi Motors" badges on it.
The VQ35 is descended from the VQ30 which is descended from the VG30, which was initially produced long before Renault had anything to do with Nissan.
