Wow, 298hp for the 6MT models is incredible. I knew that Nissan/Infiniti was holding back with the VQ-series. I'm sure there's even more power waiting to be untapped. This certainly puts a damper on the TL as well as the B7 A4 and new BMW 330i, both to enter production next fall with 255hp and 258hp, respectively. I'm curious to see how much the 0-60 and 1/4mi times will improve with all these enhancements.

hahaha, i wish. :happysad:
I was about to consider the 330i in 1 year, but now this will put the 6MT G35 sedan on top of my list again. 298HP/288ft-lb of tQ is almost 300/290. I bet the just make it 298/288 for insurance reason.
Well BMW is rumoured to be coming out with a turbocharged 330ti(?) that will bridge the gap between the 330i and the next M3. Its supposed to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 320hp or so. Of course its going to be $40k to start with easily...
It will be interesting to see what Lexus will do with the next IS300. Its going to have to come at least at what Audi and BMW have. And I wouldn't be surprised if Honda gave the TL a bump in 06.

270HP is more than enough for the TL being FWD, thanks :ugh:
Torque steer is REALLY prevelant in the 6-speed models, a little less so in the autos.
I imagine the 350Z will get the 298HP as well.

Actually, the 2005 350Z has no power change. I have no idea why though. The G35 sedan should be decently faster than the 04 G35c, since it's lighter and more power. Should be interesting if the G35x 6MT has 298HP too.

though.
I don't know if I should be happy about this news. Now my G sedan is the weakest in the whole G family.
2003-04 G35 sedan 5AT: 260hp
2004-05 G35 coupe 5AT: 280hp
2005 G35 sedan 5AT: 280hp
2005 G35 sedan 6MT: 298hp
2005 G35 coupe 6MT: 298hp
From this list I would say the fastest is the 05 manual sedan, which should be lighter than 05 manual coupe with the same engine output.
