kazi is correct... the Prelude (4th & 5th gen) had its own platform that was not shared with any other Honda model

Did I start a riot here? American Honda, in some press material or another, did allude that the 200 hp Type-S was their "Prelude replacement." Maybe that's what Car & Driver paraphrased it as, but basically Honda felt that either the Accord Coupe or the RSX Type S would attract Prelude-type owners, who are probably considered to be fairly Honda-loyal anyway.

4th and 5th gen Prelude was indeed special, but its platform was not derived from the Civic? It's not a long-wheelbase Civic-based platform?

Anyway, the RSX is getting a lesson in ... Civics for 2005. Congrats, I guess.

Im shocked that they say 31 MPG for the Type-S. I would've guessed 28 with the lower final drive. Perhaps the gearing won't be as bad as people seem to think.

I find it interesting considering they have the same bolt pattern as the accord, share the same engine bay, and suspension.

It still doesn't mean that the platforms are the same. The last 2 gen Prelude platform was independent.

The Prelude was close enough to being an Accord coupe, for reasons that Paul stated above.

Anyway, the topic of the RSX being a Prelude replacement and whatnot, has been covered about a bazillion times already so please limit your replies in this thread (which is supposed to be about the changes to the '05 RSX) to the changes to the '05 RSX.

I love it. Looks much cleaner, and they finally got rid of the one thing I could not stand on the RSX, the weird headlights.
